Who we are.

SAMAF was created to provide opportunities for professional accountants from migrant backgrounds and give back to our community. Our team are from across the globe – representing Europe, Asia and Africa – and bringing real world experience to your accounting needs. 

Many of us got our start as international students in the Northern Territory and now we’re paying it forward, providing opportunities and pathways for international students, offering subsidised services to migrant communities and organisations and building a business that truly understands the migrant and refugee experience.

DIRECTOR

Ali is from Tanzania and has graduated from Charles Darwin University with a Bachelor of Accounting with also a qualification in Business Studies from the University of Greenwich.
During his studies, Ali was very engaged in the student and wider community, as a Peer Assisted Study Session leader, a tutor for the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Support, represent the Undergraduate student cohort at the Academic Board of Charles Darwin University and selected as the student representative in the Appeals Committee.

Manfred Mletsin

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

A former international student from Estonia holding qualifications in Business Management and Accounting.
Manfred has held a number of different roles, from customer service representative to a student support officer, but his latest challenge has been helping SAMAF Accountants & Consultants to get established and help many small NT businesses build a presence in social media, through contributions as the Chief Operating Officer.

David has over 20 years of practical experience in professional practice. He spent over 7 years within two of the Big 4 Accounting firms (Ernst & Young and KPMG) and held managerial positions around Australia and overseas.

David is a Chartered Accountant (a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).

CONSULTANT - AUDITOR

Takunda is an audit and advisory professional with over ten years of experience, including many years at Big Four accounting firms. His expertise is not just confined to the private sector; he has also dedicated over five years to Public Sector Agencies, with significant work in the Northern Territory (Australia) and Timor Leste. This diverse international experience showcases his adaptability and deep understanding of various auditing environments.
His academic and professional credentials are a testament to his expertise. Takunda holds a BCompt (Hons) in Accounting and is a respected member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.

HOANG NGUYEN

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Hoang is born in Vietnam and has graduated from Charles Darwin University with a degree in Master of Professional Accounting and a degree in Finance from RMIT University. During his studying time, he was interested in the finance field and has gained much financial knowledge. However, after further experimenting and contemplation, he decided to get into accounting as his primary profession.
When he was in Melbourne, he actively volunteered for RMIT and support numerous students with general inquiries about the campus, events and providing them with academic support should they need assistance. As a result, he was awarded RMIT LEAD recognition for contributing to student life quality and leadership in 2017.

Katherine, a Colombian native, embarked on a journey in 2018 to Australia, driven by her pursuit of professional growth, employment prospects, and a desire to immerse herself in diverse cultural experiences. Armed with a robust educational background, she has acquired expertise in Occupational Health and Safety, complemented by a certified proficiency in Business and a diploma in Leadership and Management.
With a solid foundation in Business Administration, Katherine brings a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to her current role. Presently situated in Darwin, she is actively expanding her professional repertoire at SAMAF GROUP, where she serves as an Office Administrator.

Long Nguyen, a native of Vietnam, is currently pursuing his academic aspirations as an accounting student at Charles Darwin University. Alongside his studies, he is gaining valuable professional experience as an intern at SAMAF.

Jamshed Arshad is a Pakistani international student with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
Jamshed has completed his studies at King’s Own Institute of Sydney and volunteered in many roles as an Intern and Bookkeeper.
Experienced and detail-oriented general accountant with a passion for precision and accuracy. With a solid background in finance and accounting principles, he excels in analysing financial data, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

BERNARD TAN

CONSULTANT

Bernard is from the Philippines and found a new home in Australia. He chose Darwin to enhance his bachelor’s degree in accounting further and gained his master’s in professional accounting at Charles Darwin University. After completing his studies, he was fortunate to be a volunteer tax advisor in the CDU Tax clinic 2020 and helped unrepresented individuals with their tax affairs. Later he joined SAMAF as a consultant, which magnified his calling and purpose of supporting small to large-scale businesses with accounting variables like tax compliance and comprehensive financial planning.

Sumeet is an Accounting Professional experienced in small to medium-business finance management. He is passionate about tax returns, tax planning and financial reporting. 

Starting his career in public accounting, managing various kiosk locations of taxation and dealing with 25000+ clients every year, he now dreams of leading a major accounting firm.

His achievements include streamlining accounting processes for numerous businesses. Based in Sydney, Sumeet enjoys travelling and a great cup of coffee.

Principal - Pakistan

Kazim Bhojani is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK, with extensive experience across industries, including Manufacturing, Export, Trading, E-Commerce, and Services.

He is the founder of ANALYST, a Pakistan-based professional services firm that supports SAMAF Consultants Australia in delivering outsourced accounting and advisory services to global clients.

Through ANALYST, Kazim leads a dedicated team providing accounting, bookkeeping, taxation, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis services. In his role as Regional Representative for SAMAF in Pakistan, Kazim oversees the coordination between SAMAF’s international offices and the Pakistan delivery team, ensuring efficient service delivery and high professional standards. His practical approach and strong understanding of business operations help clients maintain compliance, gain financial clarity, and scale efficiently.

DIWAKAR SAHNI

GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

Diwakar has over 10 years of experience in finance and accounting has been acquired, with a focus on treasury operations, cash flow management, and contract billing in India. Professional exposure has been gained through roles at multinational companies including Genpact, Ericsson, and Intercontinental Hotels Group. Proficiency has been developed in financial reporting, SAP, and bank reconciliations. Currently, the role of General Accountant is being held at SAMAF in Darwin, where financial operations are being overseen to enhance business efficiency. A detail-oriented and analytical approach has been consistently maintained to support compliance and drive process improvements.

Deepika is an international student from India who recently completed a Master of Professional Accounting at Charles Darwin University. She brings over 8 years of experience in finance and accounting through roles at Genpact and Intercontinental Hotels Group, with expertise in accounts payable/receivable, auditing, internal controls, and vendor management. Her practical experience has been strengthened through a Work Integrated Learning placement at Deloitte, volunteering at the CDU Free Tax Clinic, and her current role as a General Accountant at SAMAF. She also served as a Health Promotion Officer at Melaleuca Australia, supporting community well-being. Deepika is passionate about compliance, risk management, and contributing to the finance sector in Darwin.

Ali Talal Khan is a skilled finance professional based in Melbourne, bringing a diverse background in accounting, banking, and financial analysis to his role as General Accountant at Samaf Consultant. He is an ACCA Member and holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Banking from Swinburne University, as well as a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

With prior experience at Punjab Beverages Co. (a PepsiCo franchise), Ali has developed strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. His strengths lie in leveraging data for strategic insights and streamlining financial operations using tools like SAP, QlikView, and advanced Excel.

Ali also has academic research experience in Islamic finance, with a focus on evaluating risk-sharing models as viable alternatives to conventional finance. His practical experience and academic insight make him a valuable asset to the Samaf Consultant team.

Muhammad Usman is a General Accountant at SAMAF Consultants in Darwin, NT, where he specialises in financial reporting, tax compliance, and process optimisation for clients across retail, healthcare, and professional services. With a Master’s degree in Accounting from Charles Sturt University and a strong foundation in banking and finance, he is committed to delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient financial solutions. Usman brings a detail-oriented approach and a passion for driving financial efficiency to every engagement.

Joan Liwanag Tran, originally from the Philippines, has made Australia her new home and recently completed her Master of Professional Accounting (Professional Practice) at Charles Darwin University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Financial Management, and a Master of Business Administration. Joan is a businesswoman who has built her entrepreneurial journey from the Philippines to Australia and is the director of Global NT Pty Ltd t/a Darwin Detailing & Tinting in the Northern Territory. She also volunteers at the CDU Tax Clinic, applying her accounting expertise to assist individuals and small businesses with their tax obligations.

Joan has extensive experience managing end-to-end accounting functions, including budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance. Her background also includes strategic business planning, operational management, and human resource oversight, giving her a holistic understanding of how financial decisions impact organisational growth. She is passionate about mentoring, financial literacy, and empowering clients to achieve long-term financial stability.

Hurr Bhojani represents SAMAF Consultants in Salt Lake City, Utah, supporting the firm’s expansion into the United States market. He focuses on building relationships with local businesses and connecting them with SAMAF’s global advisory and outsourcing capabilities.

Working closely with SAMAF’s established teams in Darwin, Australia, and Karachi, Pakistan, Hurr facilitates access to services, including accounting and bookkeeping, taxation, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis, delivered by SAMAF’s experienced professionals.

Currently studying at the University of Utah, Hurr brings an international outlook and a proactive approach to client engagement. His role centres on understanding the needs of businesses in the U.S. market and introducing them to SAMAF’s efficient and scalable service model supported by the firm’s global teams
